Newcomers to Canada - immigrants or refugees

Get matched with a “host” volunteer, someone who lives in your community and can help you learn about the local community services and resources.

The Host Program is a volunteer program that matches new Canadians with volunteer “hosts” from the community who provide friendship and support in the settlement and adaptation of newcomers to Canada.


We have two OPEN HOUSE events planned for September:

For potential participants: Tuesday, September 16, 2008 6pm to 8pm
For potential volunteers: Thursday, September 18, 2008 6pm to 8pm

Your “host” or “host family” can help you for FREE in these areas:

  • Exploring Canadian culture & customs
  • Practicing conversational English
  • Learning about the neighborhood:
  • shopping areas
  • school system
  • public transportation
  • postal system
  • social networking & referrals
  • library
  • parks and Recreation Centres
