Burnaby Board of Trades is a true leader in business sector in addressing immigrant employment issues.
Burnaby's first employers' forum on diversity gathered 50 local businesses and over 150 internationally trained professionals. The forum was organized by the Burnaby Board of Trades in partnership with the Burnaby Intercultural Planning Table. Through open dialogue and roundtable discussion immigrants were able to connect with local businesses and employers learnt about the advantages of developing and maintaining diverse workforce.
This event was a part of an 18-months project called Breaking Down The Barriers funded by the Provincial government. The project involves 6 employer tours and two major business forums. Watch videos about immigrant and employer experiences during this project:

The Skills Connect for Immigrants program—Health Sector, aims to assist as many clients as possible establish careers in their field within the Canadian Healthcare system. Our program will guide clients through an unfamiliar labour market, and navigate credentialing and professional college and association barriers. In addition, we can help to overcome language barriers and provide assistance to obtain the necessary skills critical in the Canadian workplace. There are 12 professional categories supported by Skills Connect-Health:
