This program is designed to help internationally educated pharmacists prepare themselves for practice in Canada, help Canadian-trained pharmacists re-enter practice after an extended absence and provide core competencies for practising pharmacists. To register, internationally educated students will be required to have successfully completed the PEBC Evaluating Exam and the English Language Fluency requirements as set out by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia: http://ww.bcpharmacists.org/registration/pdf/Guide_English_Language_Fluency.pdf

Courses such as the Canadian Pharmacy Practice Programme have been shown to assist internationally educated pharmacists gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for pharmacy practice here in Canada. As well, individuals who successfully complete such programs have increased success rates on the PEBC Qualifying Examination.

The program has been designed using the Ability-Based Outcomes, designated by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA), that form the framework for the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences undergraduate program. The courses have all been created around the same resources and source material used in the undergraduate program, with the added component of intercultural training.
